Head Coach Jimmy Rogers Bio:

Tritons Head Coach, Jimmy Rogers, hails from Mill Creek, Washington where he began his swimming career at the age of 12. Jimmy competed at the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association State Championships all four years of high school (H.M. Jackson HS), taking 3rd place in the 100-yard backstroke event, and 4th place in the 100-yard freestyle event his senior year.  Jimmy was also a four-time swimming MVP at his high school, a 4-time 1st team All-District (WESCO), was Swim Team Captain for three of his four years, and still holds 4 school records (100 back, 100 free, 200 IM, 400 free relay). In addition to his swimming achievements, Jimmy ran varsity cross country and track in high school and was even voted Rookie of the Year.

As well as competing for his high school, Jimmy was a Junior National Qualifier in the 100 and 200-yard backstroke in 2008 (StingRay Siwm Club).  After high school, he accepted a swim scholarship to California State University, Northridge (CSUN)  While competing on the Division I swim team at CSUN, Jimmy’s swim competition results landed him on the All Time Top 10 records list in the 50-yard, 100-yard, and 200-yard backstroke events at CSUN.  He was also a Conference Finalist (Big West) in the 100-yard backstroke event during his freshmen year of college in 2009, one year before the program was cut. Deciding to focus on his studies and coaching rather than continuing to pursue a competitive career in swimming, Jimmy stayed at CSUN where he completed a B.S. in Environmental Biology in 2013.

Jimmy joined the coaching staff of at TSTT as an Assistant Coach in 2012 and was welcomed as Head Coach in 2017. He brings a wealth of swimming/coaching experience to the pool deck. He is passionate about swimming and is dedicated to assisting all levels of swimmers in accomplishing their personal swim goals, whether they be fitness, competition, or education. He is currently a USMS Certified Level 2 Coach.

Coaching Philosophy:

As a coach, I seek the proper balance of technique and tenacity. Being able to teach oneself is essential to the sport of swimming, and I will present both a philosophical and physiological base of understanding the art of swimming to perpetuate one’s improvement. Technique will be in high regard on a daily basis as I am a strong believer in perfect-practice. At the same time, I will also provide a highly specialized, rigorous workout regime meant to push your boundaries to new heights. I specialize in catering specific workouts to individuals of different age, skill-level, experience, and style (open-water/pool, distance/sprint, stroke, military/servicemen training). Even if you do not have any competitive swimming goals, we welcome everyone to try out a practice!

Whether you’re a pool swimmer, open-water swimmer, or new to the sport entirely, there is a place for you on our team. Improvement is guaranteed!
